DUBAI, Dec. 13 (Xinhua) -- Chinese twin shuttlers Luo Ying and Luo Yu won the women's doubles super series here on Sunday, beating Christinna PedersenKamilla Rytter Juhl from Denmark in the final.

The Danes retired in the third set as Pedersen suffered from stomach problems.

The 24-year old Luo YingLuo Yu, world No. 1, said the victory was the result of their hard work "as we played overall a great season in 2015."After losing the first set 14-21, the Luo twins managed to turn the tables and won the two following sets 21-9 and 14-4. Pedersen felt not well so the Danes retired early in the third set.

The Danish team started with an aggressive play and harmonized well. "That was our plan," said Juhl. The Luo sisters, one head shorter than the Scandinavians, responded with a clever zig-zag play and short shuttles close to the net which effectively irritated the duo PedersernJuhl.

In the second set, the Chinese players changed their tactic and switched to a more aggressive style, increasing pressure with smashes close to the net. By switching shooting frequencies between slow shuttlecocks and fast shuttlecocks, the Chinese equipe broke the Danish defense.

"After we lost the first set, we adapted our tactics to our opponents," said Luo Yu, adding that they took during the breaks important pieces of advice from their coach.

A fantastic exchange leading to 9-5 lead in set 2 was a major psychological boost for China, leading then to win the second set 21-9. The Danes looked increasingly exhausted at the start of the third set, desperately trying to find a way to break the Chinese tag team play. But the Luo sister quickly led 5-0, then 7-2 and eventually won set three 14-4 as Pedersen had to retire.

Luo Ying said she and her twin sister are now eager to prepare for Summer Olympic Games in Rio 2016.

CANBERRA, June 13 (Xinhua) -- The Australian government has on Tuesday confirmed it has backed a national bid for Australia to host the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup, on the back of recent strong performances by the national side, nicknamed the Matildas.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said the government would work with football's peak body, Football Federation Australia (FFA), which will lodge the bid for the tournament sometime next year.

Turnbull told News Corp that Melbourne, Sydney, Canberra, Brisbane Adelaide and Perth would be the likely cities to host, with the government to provide 1 million Australian dollars (750,000 U.S. dollars) to back the bid initially, followed by an additional 4 million Australian dollars (3 million U.S dollars) if the bid looks like being successful.

"I am delighted we are supporting a bid for the 2023 Women's World Cup," Turnbull said on Tuesday.

"The Matildas are wonderful role models for young women and girls right across Australia and it would be fantastic to have (them) playing to win the Women's World Cup on home soil."

The Prime Minister said Australia is well-known as a "sporting nation" which is "recognized internationally for our sporting achievements", saying that Australia has successfully hosted a number of major sporting events including the Olympic Games and Commonwealth Games.

He added that Australia wanted to be at the forefront of showcasing and growing women's sport.

"Women's sport in Australia has moved forward in leaps and bounds. Staging the 2023 Women's World Cup will continue this momentum," Turnbull said.

Meanwhile chairman of FFA, Steven Lowy said with the growing interest in the Matildas and strong results in recent tournaments means Australia has a chance at hosting the "prestigious" event.

"This is the largest, most prestigious and most competitive contest in a women's sport globally," Lowy told News Corp.

"We want to win the right to host it and then win the tournament itself."

Submissions for the right to host the tournament are due sometime in 2018.
