Chen made the remarks in Taipei while meeting with Taiwan media during his eight-day visit to the island starting Tuesday.

Chen also promised to push for an agreement under which Chinese mainland tourists will be allowed to fly to other overseas destinations via Taiwan.


As part of annual exchanges between ARATS and SEF, Chen's trip includes visiting Taiwan's volunteer groups and its agriculture, bio-technology, green tourism, and senior citizen welfare sectors.


The trip also aims to explore expanding the scope of cooperation between industries of the two sides, upgrade the level of such cooperation, and promote exchanges and communication between volunteers of the two sides.




JAKARTA， Feb. 16 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's tourism ministry said on Thursday that the nation has welcomed over 12 million foreign visitors last year.


The figure was resulted from updated data after the nation used Mobile Positioning Data (MPD) digital technology in the last three months last year， Deputy Tourism Minister for Foreign Marketing I Gde Pitana said.


"Results from data update process have improved the accuracy up to 4.2 percent，" Pitana told a joint press conference.


The syncing of data after using the MDP technology resulted in increasing number of foreign visitors which is 504，000 higher than the data compiled by the BPS throughout last year that stood at 11.52 million， according to Pitana.


The BPS' 2016 foreign visitors figure was 10.69 percent higher than the 10.41 million one recorded in 2015.


The MPD digital system， applied at airports and land border areas， provides accurate data on the foreigners entering Indonesia by detecting smartphones brought by them.


Indonesia has set to welcome 15 million foreign visitors this year with earnings contributed by tourism sector expected to reach some 200 trillion rupiah (about 15 billion U.S. dollars).


The Southeast Asia's largest economy has set tourism sector as its core business， replacing the previous oil and gas， coal and palm oil sector.


A court in Nantong, Jiangsu Province has rejected eight lawsuits filed by a woman and her father against the government, saying the two had repeatedly abused their rights to request local government departments to disclose information.


Gangzha district people's court dismissed the suits from Lu Hongxia and her father Lu Fuguo against the local police, land, urban construction, statistics and reform and development authorities, saying it is the first ever move in the country to restrict the abuse of the right to request government information disclosure, the Legal Daily reported Tuesday.


The two have requested the local authorities to disclose information at least 94 times since 2013.


Lu Fuguo's home was demolished during a road development project in 2007 and the family has not received any compensation since, his daughter wrote on her Sina Weibo account, adding that they filed requests for information disclosure because she wanted to know about the actual situation of the road project.


The information they requested also included the government's budget reports, the number of government vehicles, their license information and the standards required for meals during detention.


They filed lawsuits at three courts in 36 cases after they were dissatisfied with some of the government responses.


The Gangzha court said that the two have abused the government information disclosure policy and litigation as the requests were not because they wanted to know about the information, but were a means to pressure the government for personal gains.


Mo Shaoping, a lawyer based in Beijing, told the Global Times that there is no regulation on abuse of litigation in China but according to legal principles, it is reasonable to make such a claim when a plaintiff has filed a lawsuit without lawful reasons or has been wasting judiciary resources.


He also pointed out that some local government departments are still reluctant to reveal information as requested, and they need to change their attitude if the requests were filed lawfully.
